According to Oknife’s Kickstarter page, the team met Onion at Blade Show Atlanta last summer, and he was inspired by the Olight Arkfeld flashlight (another O brand in the “O family”), to design a knife with a unique, steeply angled handle.

As the name suggests, the handle is the main selling point of this knife. And not just the shape but the material: OAL, Olight’s proprietary aluminum alloy, renowned for being as light as standard aluminum but with superior wear and scratch resistance and surface hardness, as well as elasticity similar to TC4 titanium alloy.

Starting off that handle (available in olive green and matte black colorways) is a 3-inch blade made from CPM-S45VN steel, known for its blend of hardness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance.

Together, these two elements form what Oknife calls “the world’s lightest 3-inch blade folding knife (with an aluminum handle).” Even if we know at least one 3 inch blade knife which is lighter than this one at 2.57 ounces, we don’t know of any options with an aluminum handle, so we can’t dispute that boast.

The sheepsfoot blade has a generous belly and a formidable tip, ideal for everyday cutting and drilling tasks. It is deployed via ambidextrous thumb studs or rear flipper and held in place with a frame lock.
