LEESVILLE, La. (KPLC) – Police are investigating the death of a child in Leesville.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, officers with the Leesville Police Department (LPD) reported responding to a call regarding an unresponsive child found at a local residence.

The child was transported to a local hospital to receive medical treatment, but police said she succumbed to her injuries Thursday morning.

LPD is currently working to investigate this case with the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office, Coroner’s Office and Prosecutor, as well as the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services.
