The Kansas City Chiefs, back-to-back defending Super Bowl champions, are the only undefeated team in the NFL with a 9-0 record, and they are reportedly poised for a bigger boost this week.

According to Jordan Schultz from Fox Sports, the Chiefs plan to designate running back Isiah Pacheco to return from injured reserve along with defensive lineman Charles Omenihu ahead of their Week 11 game against the Buffalo Bills.

Pacheco has been sidelined since suffering a fibula injury during Kansas City’s Week 2 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. ESPN Adam Schefter reported at the time that he would miss six to eight weeks but was expected to return at some point this season.

Before getting injured, Pacheco recorded 34 carries for 135 yards and a touchdown while adding seven catches for 54 yards in two games. The 2022 seventh-round pick would have been a focal point of the Chiefs’ offense had he stayed healthy, so the team will undoubtedly benefit from his return.

In Pacheco’s absence, the Chiefs brought back veteran Kareem Hunt to stabilize the running back position, and he’s proving to be a perfect fit. The 29-year-old, who began his career in Kansas City in 2017 before being released the following year, has accumulated 125 carries for 449 yards and five touchdowns with 14 catches for 116 yards in six games this season.

Hunt’s presence will allow the Chiefs to bring Pacheco back while he still has his legs under him. When Pacheco returns to form, Kansas City will have a dangerous duo in its backfield to relieve star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs will look to make their first 10-0 start in franchise history Sunday when they face the Bills, who lead the AFC East with an 8-2 record.
