Search renewed in cold case of missing Iowa news anchor

It’s been almost 30 years since Iowa news anchor Jodi Huisentruit disappeared on her way to work.

Huisentruit hosted the KIMT-TV morning show in Mason City when she disappeared on June 27, 1995.

Recently, following a tip, Mason City investigators conducted a search for Huisentruit’s remains in Winsted, Minnesota.

According to FindJodi.comMason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley confirmed the search was part of following up on a lead related to Huisnetruit’s case, but no further details are available at this time.

Huisentruit, a native of Long Prairie, Minnesota, began his career at KTVO’s sister station, KGAN – Cedar Rapids, before joining KIMT-TV Mason City.

The morning she disappeared, Jodi told a co-worker that she was late, but never made it to work.

His belongings were later found scattered around his car.

Her disappearance was ruled a kidnapping, but Huisentruit was legally declared dead in 2001.

Anyone with information about Jodi’s case is encouraged to contact the Mason City Police Department or the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
