Houston pedestrian crash: Family of elderly man killed says he recently stopped driving

The family of the elderly man killed in a Houston car crash Monday is speaking out.

Loc Doan, 91, of Houston, left his home around 3 p.m. to walk from his apartment to a nearby store, his daughter Laura said.

The family says Doan’s children recently stopped him from driving due to his age, but the man still found ways to get around.

Doan was on his way home around 6 p.m. when he was struck in the 6600 block of Synott Road. The family believed the driver did not see the 91-year-old man because it was dark and he was not driving too fast.

Houston police said the driver remained at the scene to cooperate with officers and showed no signs of intoxication.
