COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) – Interstate 89 in both directions at Exit 17 in Colchester will be closed to all traffic beginning Sunday evening.

Vt. Agency of Transportation says crews will work to install reinforcements for the Route 2 bridge over I-89.

From Sunday November 17 to Friday November 22, the highway will be closed between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

During these nighttime closures, traffic will be maintained using detour routes. Southbound traffic on I-89 will be directed to Highway Exit 17, turn left onto US-2, and immediately re-enter I-89 using the southbound on-ramp at exit 17 interchange.

Northbound traffic on I-89 will be diverted to exit the highway at Exit 16 in Colchester, travel approximately 6.3 miles on US-2/US-7 to Exit 17 and re-enter the I-89 using the northbound on-ramp at Exit 17. Exit 17 interchange.

Authorities remind drivers to pay attention to signage posted along detour routes.
