Kamala Harris’ latest effort to win over male voters: can it succeed?

With the US presidential elections just days away, candidates are scrambling to gather votes to ensure their victory.

By the presidential candidate’s own admission, the majority of Harris’ campaign is made up of male voters. During a candid conversation with Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Harris slipped and said her campaign was facing changes in its relationship with male voters.

Recent New York Times polls give Vice President Harris a 54% to 42% advantage over Donald Trump among female voters. Meanwhile, Trump leads among male voters, with 55% support to Harris’ 41%.
To close this gap, Harris is launching a series of ads specifically targeting men in key states. The ads will air during major sporting events Sunday and Monday in Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, aiming to portray Trump as a wealthy outsider disconnected from these working-class communities.

The Milwaukee ad features Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers, who encourages residents to remember Trump’s previous criticism of their city before the Republican National Convention and challenges them to ” show him what we are made of.” In Philadelphia, Harris’ campaign appealed to voters by invoking the city’s Revolutionary War heritage and sporting pride.
In Pittsburgh, another critical Pennsylvania city, the ad features Chris, a Steelers fan and maintenance worker, who contrasts his working-class life with Trump’s, expressing doubts about Trump’s interest in the daily worker.

Harris did everything possible to attract male votes. His running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, will play football simulation video game Madden NFL on live streaming platform Twitch with New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as part of an awareness campaign . attempted male vote.

Harris has also been seen in various interviews and podcasts with media personalities popular with men, for example her appearance on the All the Smoke podcast with former NBA players Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes and an interview with radio host Charlamagne Tha God.

Every vote counts in this race and that is a fact well known to both Harris and Trump. Will Harris’ targeted efforts help him connect with men in these key cities? Only time – and perhaps the polls – will tell.
