Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that the first electric vehicle based on its new EMA platform will be available in less than two years. After the Range Rover Electric and sports vehicles, a smaller electric SUV, the Velar, will probably be launched on the market.

Range Rover Velar electric SUV set for release in 2026

The first Range Rover electric SUV is expected to make its grand debut soon, with sales starting in 2025.

Shortly after, the Range Rover Sport Electric will hit the market. JLR CEO Adrian Mardell has confirmed that the first electric vehicle running on its new EMA platform will launch in less than two years.

Unlike Range Rover’s flagship electric vehicle, the new model will be underpinned by the company’s new EMA platform. The Range Rover Electric and Sport EV share the same MLA platform as current gasoline models.

According to AutoCarthe new electric vehicle is expected to be the smaller Range Rover Velar Electric, which will launch in less than two years.

“We will have the MLA BEV first, with the Range Rover BEV later next year,” Mardell said. “Then this is the first vehicle outside EMA, which will probably arrive in spring 2026.”
