Ian Harding plays a total charmer on Hallmark+ On vacation series – but even his ties to the town sheriff couldn’t save him from being arrested.

“This is the first time I’ve ever been in the back of a police cruiser,” Harding, 38, told Exclusive. Us every week TV filming. “I have interacted with police officers before for reasons that are clearly not serious enough for that.”

The actor, who spoke with We while on a long road trip, he joked that maybe he was “running from the law” instead of going to Toronto for work. “This is what you are witnessing right now,” he teased. “And I’m super quiet and sociopathic.”

During episode 2 of holiday-themed showpremiering Thursday, November 14, Harding’s Josh Hill has multiple run-ins with the law and town sheriff Nora Jacobs (Erin Cahill), who happens to be Hill’s former classmate.

While the incidents start off innocent enough, Josh finds himself in the back of Nora’s police car at one point — a scene that led Harding to realize that getting arrested in real life isn’t for him.

“They are not comfortable. I learned that,” he said We of the vehicle. “And I wasn’t handcuffed.” I could very easily get in and out.

Harding said he had “fun” filming in the police car, but he worried he might have scared a few local kids who had no idea what was going on that day.

“There were children in the one place I was in the back of the police car,” he recalls. “I think the kids were on a field trip and I got out of the police car at one point – from the back – and you could tell they didn’t really know whether or not I was a fugitive.”

THE pretty Little Liars One former student has since vowed: “I wish I was never in a place where there weren’t cameras, you know? That’s one of my goals in life, is to never see any of them again.

Although Harding’s character gets into trouble during the miniseries – which follows six different families over the course of eight episodes – he has a heart of gold.

“He wins at everything he tries. But he is also a very hard worker. He has a plan for life and what things are supposed to look like,” Harding said of Josh and his story. “He’s not a jerk by any means, but he has expectations about how life and things are supposed to go.”

THE actor teased that “when the universe puts something in his way, he gets a little angry”.

One of these curveballs crosses paths with Nora, whom he knew as a child. After their altercation and Josh finally met Nora’s son Theo (Sébastien Billingsley-Rodriguez), with whom he bonds while house for vacationJosh must decide what he really wants from life.

“When we start the series, we find him in the same place and he ends up in a completely different place,” Harding explained. “He has to deal with a lot of growing up and hilarious pain.”

He teased that because of “some shenanigans” and Josh’s own “incompetence,” his journey back to his parents’ cul-de-sac (where all the other families in the story cross paths) is very unexpected.

“I think there’s something that Josh is really missing in his life, which is meaningful connection,” Harding said. Wenoting that Josh’s encounter with Nora will shake up his life in ways that will last well past the holiday season.

He hinted that Josh and Nora’s relationship may have been “destined,” joking, “I don’t know who interacts with a cop and then learns what’s meaningful in life.” »

In addition to the Hill family, which includes Josh and his parents, Lorriane (Gwynyth Walsh) and Sam (Barry W. Levy) — viewers will meet the Manetti-Hanahan clan, the Lin family, the Lewin brood, the Camarena crew and the Woods women.
