PHOENIX (AZFamille) — The Arizona Department of Public Safety says officers have seized thousands of pounds of illegal drugs in recent months.

According to DPSfrom August through the end of October, troopers seized approximately 6,498 pounds of illegal drugs.

These include 837 pounds of fentanyl (in pill or powder form), 514 pounds of methamphetamine, 33 pounds of heroin, 231 pounds of cocaine and 4,883 pounds of marijuana.

“These seizures reflect the Department’s continued commitment to disrupting the flow of dangerous drugs into our communities,” the agency said in a news release.

Earlier this month, Phoenix police seized two million pills of the dangerous drug fentanyl with the help of the Drug Enforcement Administration “in a joint operation dubbed”Operation Night Owl.”
