voters reject council pay raises – Boulder Daily Camera

Dacono voters were rejecting pay raises for the mayor and city council members, according to Tuesday night’s election results.

Ballot Question 2H, which asked voters whether compensation should be increased to $600 per month for the mayor and $400 per month for each council member starting Jan. 1, 2025, received 950 “no” votes and 726 “yes” votes, according to the Weld County Clerk and Recorder’s website.

Currently, the mayor earns $75 per month and each council member earns $50 per month.

Ballot Question 2I, which asked voters whether the Dacono Home Rule Charter should be amended to provide for a council-manager form of government, also failed Tuesday night. Voting Question 2I had received 835 “no” votes and 766 “yes” votes.

Dacono currently has a council-mayor form of government.

Ballot Question 2J, which asked voters if the city could post financial information regarding bill payments, contracts and rebates on the city’s website instead of a general circulation newspaper to save costs of publication, was adopted. Ballot question 2J had received 1,274 yes votes, compared to just 405 no votes.

Also passing Tuesday night was ballot question 2G, which would allow a judge to impose the maximum penalty for a municipal ordinance as allowed by the state. The 2G ballot question had 1,010 yes votes and 604 no votes.
