Democrat says it’s time for the left to change its name

Following Donald Trump’s election victory, many Americans, particularly those aligned with the Democratic Party, felt depressed, angry, pessimistic, and even fearful about the future.

Many looked for someone to blame and found themselves pointing the finger at the Republican Party and everyone who voted for it.

However, one Democrat online shared a different view, pointing out the left-wing party’s flaws that led to the loss of the election and the loss of trust of the American people.

One registered Democrat said it’s time for the left to “change its name.”

Like many of us, Horace Gold woke up Wednesday morning disappointed by the turnout and election night results, and has been doing some soul-searching ever since.

While navigating your emotions of grief and discouragementGold realized that while the Republican Party certainly has its imperfections, the Democratic Party is not innocent either.

The truth is that Trump won the popular vote with 73 million voteswhile Kamala Harris received 69 million. While this may be difficult for some to accept, it is clear that the majority of Americans would prefer a Trump presidency over a Harris presidency.

This was not the case in the 2016 or 2020 elections, in which Trump lost the popular vote by nearly 2.9 million votes to Hillary Clinton and President Joe Biden won the popular vote with a 4 point margin over Trump. In fact, Trump is the first Republican candidate to win the popular vote in 20 years.

While many Democrats are wondering how they lost to one of the most controversial and controversial candidates in history, Gold pointed out that the answer could be revealed by looking closely in the mirror.

The Democrat said “it’s less critical” to be a Republican.

On their websitethe official Democratic Party describes itself as “the party of inclusion.”

“As Democrats, we respect differences in viewpoints and beliefs and are committed to working together to move this country forward, even when we disagree…we are not simply looking for ground to “understanding – we strive for higher ground,” the website reads.

Yet Gold insisted the Democratic Party has failed to live up to that claim.

“We’re like, ‘Did you pronounce something wrong?’ You’re a fanatic, and it’s like, where is the grace for humanity? » asked Gold. “We are sometimes ruthless towards humanity. »

He said the Republicans are the most welcoming party.

“I think it’s cool to be a Republican right now, in a crazy way,” he said. “The branding is much more inclusive. It’s a vast network. Everyone is welcome to support Trump, and there is less judgment between them.”

He also noted that Democrats tend to focus on issues affecting big cities.

Larger cities, like New York and Los Angeles, are much more likely to be left-leaning and vote Democratic. As a result, candidates and voters tend to focus on issues that affect these regions rather than those that affect the rural areas that make up most of America.

“We can take a very regional approach with our beliefs and have conversations around communism, socialism and Marxism,” Gold said of the Democratic Party. “It’s a Los Angeles conversation.”

“In the middle of Louisiana, we don’t talk about that,” he continued. “They ask themselves, ‘Why is the gas level so high?'”

Unless you have experienced life in a certain area, you will never understand what they really need to thrive, nor should you tell them what issues they should worry about.

“Sometimes I have to catch myself assuming what people in small towns want and need,” Gold admitted.

The economy was one of the main motivations for Trump voters.

According to a Gallup poll, Most Americans believe their economic situation is much worse than it was four years ago, struggling with some of the biggest price shocks the country has known since the 1970s.

More than a third of Americans have difficulty paying for groceries, 78% are worried about the increase the energy costs of their home, and 63% are not even able to purchase a home. The average cost of a house has increased by more than $100,000 since the fourth quarter of 2020, and mortgage rates have more than doubled since the start of 2021.

Most people who suffer from high prices and struggle with the cost of living are working-class Americans who often have to take on multiple jobs and extra shifts just to be able to afford the necessities.

Trump has promised to fix the economy, and his proposals have caught the attention of many voters.

He proposed a series of tax cuts which aim to help lower- and middle-class workers as well as American retirees. Trump is considering exempting Social Security benefits from federal income taxes and has proposed the idea of also exempting overtime and tipped income, which would benefit many working-class families.

It is important to note this; however, this many financial experts and economists warn that his plans to implement tariffs will worsen inflation and lead to higher costs of goods for American consumers.

As Harris moved forward political ideas that would bring relief to the American working classincluding a middle-class tax break that would benefit “more than 100 million Americans,” some found it wasn’t entirely clear how she planned to achieve it, sowing uncertainty among many voters .

During Harris’ campaign, the Democratic Party focused largely on reproductive rights, improving the LGBTQ+ community, and immigration. While all of these issues are certainly important and deserve the president’s attention, clearly more Americans were concerned about be able to pay bills and afford housing.

Now the man is urging the Democratic Party to make serious changes if it wants to win the next election.

The fight for Democrats is not over, and if they are to emerge victorious in the 2026 midterm elections and possibly the 2028 presidential election, Gold insisted a major rebranding was necessary.

“As a party we need to go to these places and actually be a part of these communities before we try to tell them what they need,” he said.

While Harris focused on her social media presence, appearing on talk shows and podcasts and hosting rappers on stage at her rallies, Trump visited rural communities and areas populated by concerned working-class citizens.

Although Gold admitted to not understanding their reasoning, it’s clear that many Americans trust Trump’s plans and believe he knows what’s best for the country.

“At this point, I have to stop assuming that I know what’s best for you because I don’t even know you,” Gold concluded. “How should I know what’s best for you?”

Even though Trump will occupy the Oval Office for the next four years, Democrats still have work to do.

If the Democratic Party wants to restore its image, it must be open to hearing all points of view from different groups of people.

The party should aim to connect with voters across all demographics and offer structured plans for how it plans to improve the economy, because that is clearly what the majority of Americans care about most.

While it may be difficult for some Democrats not to label everyone who voted for Trump as bigoted or racist, this election should be a wake-up call that they must fight for more inclusiveness if they want to win support from the masses.

It is highly unlikely that 73,562,996 Americans are filled with hatred and bigotry. Like those in the Democratic Party, they had concerns and reasons why they chose to vote for Trump. Their priorities and concerns are simply different from those of the other side.

You have the right to feel grief and frustration after the election. Of course, let yourself feel all the emotions and take care of yourself. However, if you’re a Democrat and don’t reflect on your party’s mistakes, don’t be surprised when Republicans continue to dominate elections.
