10 Man Utd academy prodigies who could become superstars under Ruben Amorim, including Amir Ibragimov

Manchester United have a rich history of promoting academy players into the first team and this is set to continue under Ruben Amorim.

Throughout a history loaded with silverware of Manchester Unitedthe foundations have always been in the academy and this is more true today than ever.

251 academy players joined the first team and even now there are several candidates to reach this number 252.

It’s a tradition that fans will demand is upheld by Ruben Amorimand his record in promoting youth bodes well for the talented players currently in the ranks of Carrington.

As the 39-year-old now gets down to business, here are 10 United players who could become elite under the new head coach.

Harry Amass

Starting defensively, arguably the only young player almost certain to be excited about Amorim’s arrival is Harry Amass.

The 17-year-old full-back has been on the bench almost all season and I didn’t look for a few minutes – but that could change under Amorim.

With full-backs to play a huge role – a full-back with the attacking quality and centering of Amass could be of great use, especially with the two senior options still injured. Amass’s time could now have arrived.

God Will Kukonki

The second name on Amorim’s list could and should be Godwill Kukonki who at the age of 16, he has remarkably already played for the under-21s.

Kukonki is a left-footed central defender who, in theory, would fit in perfectly on the left side of the back three as he has the ball-playing ability and physical attributes to do so.

Kukonki would be unlikely to make his debut this season, however, if he impresses Amorim, next summer could be when he gets the chance to go on tour with the senior team.

James Scanlon is a player who could be slower at Manchester United, despite his 15 goals this season so far at U21 and U18 levels.

Despite being a winger or attacking midfielder in the academy, Scanlon could actually fill the winger role perfectly in Amorim’s system.

Used as a right back by Erik Ten Hag During the pre-season, Scanlon showed excellent ability to get past his man and attempt to cross into the box. After Amorim examines it, perhaps Scanlon’s future lies here.

Jayce Fitzgerald

Jayce Fitzgerald has seen a rise in the senior image in recent weeks – featured on the bench in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s three games to date.

It is clear to understand why – with Fitzgerald’s qualities earn him comparisons with Sergio Busquetswith two excellent possession midfielders, although Busquets still has a long way to go to reach that level.

Fitzgerald could develop into ticking many of the boxes Amorim wants from his midfielders and, given his young age, the head coach could really mold him into the type of player he wants.

Sékou Koné

Another central midfielder we’d be pretty confident about is a £1million summer signing. Sékou Koné who has all the potential in all the key areas a top midfielder could ask for.

Kone impressed in debut performance for Manchester Unitedafter taking his time to settle in, is now playing in U21 and U19.

At just 18 years old, Kone is tipped to become an elite midfielder in the future and, in terms of this list, he is probably one of the closest names to promotion given that he has was signed as a “first team” with the closer. the future is in sight.

Bendito Mantato

Bendito Mantato is one of the greatest talents of the moment Carrington and we’re sure it’s a name Amorim will be eager to take a close look at.

Mantato has been in great form for the U18s this season as a right winger – but he could be tailor-made for the left-back position under Amorim’s reign.

The 16-year-old is quick and an excellent dribbler, which could put him in dangerous positions to cross – he could even be Amorim’s new Geovany Quenda as a very young player destined to become an elite player.

Shea Lacey

Despite concerns about injuries that seem to continue to multiply, Shea Lacey is arguably Manchester United’s greatest talent.

If he can get back and stay fit, Lacey could be a perfect option to play in the right slot under Amorim, as it would also give him the license to drop to center.

Lacey turns 18 later this season and a good run at the U21s could be enough to solidify as Antony’s replacement in 2025.

Amir Ibrahimov

Amir Ibrahimov is currently tied with Lacey as the football club’s top talent, the difference is that the Russian-born star is making a real impact this season.

Ibragimov has been on fire for the U18s in his first full season at this level, proving that Manchester United were right to be so excited about him.

THE The 16-year-old has already expressed his ambition to make his first-team debut this season – and with Amorim, a great youth defender and also Dagestan striker, fits perfectly into the tactical setup.

Gabriele Biancheri

The next one is arguably the academy’s best player this season so far, with Gabriele Biancheri sitting on it 17 goals this season so far.

For Biancheri, the hope will be that Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee’s struggles in front of goal continue under Amorim and he will be there to eventually come in and make all the difference.

This season, Biancheri has gone from strength to strength and his goal against Zalgiris in the UEFA Youth League is a perfect example: as his game improves, his debut seems like a matter of time.

Chido Obi-Martin

Finally, the young man who excites fans the most… Chido Obi-Martin.

THE The Danish striker has already scored four goals and an assist this season for the U18s despite only two starts. Scoring every 43 minutes for the U18s.

If he can continue as he started at Carrington, there’s a good chance he’ll be United’s first-choice striker by the time Euro 2028 rolls around at the latest – at this stage he won’t won’t even be 22.

As with Biancheri, if Amorim is frustrated with his current options, Obi-Martin might even get his chance sooner.
