WWE Crown Jewel 2024 Results, Highlights and Takeaways

WWE Crown Jewel 2024 began with one of the biggest upsets in WWE history when Roman Reigns was pinned by Solo Sikoa and ended with another surprising result when Cody Rhodes defeated Gunther.

Two huge bookends capped off a memorable Crown Jewel event where Liv Morgan defeated Nia Jax to become Crown Jewel Champion and Randy Orton and Kevin Owens engaged in a crazy brawl that stopped their match from happening. Overall, it was another successful international event for WWE, which has become a positive trend for the company over the past couple of years.

With WWE also just four weeks away from Survivor Series, the creative team has been laying the groundwork for several marquee storylines and expected matches at the event. Now it’s full speed ahead as we head to Survivor Series: WarGames in Vancouver and on to the Royal Rumble.

Below are quick results for WWE Crown Jewel 2024:

  • The New Bloodline defeats Reigns and the Usos after Sikoa pins Reigns.
  • Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair retained the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in a Fatal 4-Way Match.
  • Seth Rollins defeated Bronson Reed.
  • Liv Morgan defeated Nia Jax to win the Crown Jewel Women’s Championship.
  • Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens never happened after the two stars fought before the match.
  • LA Knight defeated Anrade and Carmelo Hayes to retain the United States Championship.
  • Cody Rhodes defeated Gunther to become the first ever men’s crown jewel champion.

And here are the key takeaways from WWE’s latest event in Saudi Arabia, with a preview of what could lie ahead.

ForbesWWE Crown Jewel 2024 Results: Roman Reigns Pinned in Bloodline Battle

LA Knight needs a big storyline on SmackDown

LA Knight retained his United States Championship in a stunning triple threat match by pinning Carmelo Hayes, and unsurprisingly, fans in Saudi Arabia loved the result.

But it’s been nearly three months since Knight won that title, and yet you’d be hard-pressed to remember a major moment from his reign as champion. This isn’t a knock on Knight, but rather indicates the lack of attention many midcarders receive on the blue brand.

Granted, the SmackDown roster isn’t loaded on the heel side, which has posed significant problems for Knight. With prominent villains like Owens and The Bloodline busy with their respective storylines, WWE’s creative team has had a difficult period creating compelling angles for Knight.

This needs to change because Knight is more popular than ever and his popularity won’t last forever.

Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson deserve a main roster push

Belair and Cargill continue to dominate the women’s tag team division, but are absolutely necessary in simple division. WWE, however, has found a duo to take over.

Recent WWE NXT call-ups Lash Legend and Meta-Four’s Jakara Jackson have been an instant hit on SmackDown, generating strong crowd reactions and delivering a handful of very strong in-ring performances. In just a few weeks under the blue brand, they have proven that not only are they meant to be there permanently, but they also deserve a massive boost.

WWE’s women’s division shined at Crown Jewel in a better-than-expected Fatal 4-Way match, and Legend and Jackson were two of the biggest highlights of the bout. The legend instantly emerged as a star, and the connection between the two men grew faster than anyone could have imagined.

Given their success thus far, Jackson and Legend should be in the running for significant roles on SmackDown.

Tiffany Stratton must soon cash in on Nia Jax

WWE continues to say that Tiffany Stratton will cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase, and in all likelihood, it will be on her “friend” Nia Jax.

At Crown Jewel, Stratton nearly cashed in during Jax’s match with Liv Morgan, but it was unclear which championship she was aiming for. Although Stratton ultimately couldn’t cash in at all, Jax lost the match after Stratton got involved, which will certainly lead to more friction between the two stars.

Stratton will be a fan favorite whenever she finally cashes in, but WWE needs to make sure it happens while her storyline is still hot. A valid criticism of Triple H’s booking is that he often waits too long to book highlight moments, which sometimes have less impact.

WWE probably has another month or two, at most, to keep the Stratton-Jax pairing interesting before a cash-in becomes necessary.

Bronson Reed must defeat Seth Rollins in the next match

WWE was lucky enough to ensure that Bronson Reed got the biggest victory of his career at Crown Jewel. Instead, he lost to Seth Rollins.

In the ideal scenario, Reed, a rising star on Raw, would have defeated Rollins in Saudi Arabia, but that’s not what happened. The good news, however, is that WWE appears to be continuing this rivalry. After Reed lost to Rollins following a trio of Stomps, Rollins indicated that their rivalry would continue beyond WWE Crown Jewel.

It’s all good, assuming Reed beats Rollins the next time the two stars face off. Rollins, a surefire future Hall of Famer, is bulletproof when it comes to taking losses, but the same can’t be said for Reed, who is in dire need of a big victory he never achieved on the main roster.

WWE needs to book a rematch between the two stars as soon as possible, and Reed needs to win it.

Recall of Randy Orton Vs. Kevin Owens was the right choice

Owens vs. Orton in shocking fashion never happened thanks to a wild pre-match brawl sparked when Owens attacked “The Viper” with a steel chair.

Although WWE doesn’t typically announce a pay-per-view match and remove it from the card mid-show, this was actually a well-executed angle that adds much more heat to the bitter rivalry between Owens and Orton. For much of 2024, WWE has generally stuck to five matches for its non-Big Four pay-per-views, so it came as a bit of a surprise when the company booked seven matches for the Crown Jewel card.

Maybe that’s why it shouldn’t have shocked anyone when Owens vs. Orton never happened and WWE instead delivered a wildly entertaining brawl that looked more like something you’d see on Raw or SmackDown. Given the heated nature of their rivalry, it was, in hindsight, the right decision.

Now, WWE can build a legitimate match between the two, either at Survivor Series or Saturday Night’s Main Event, that fans will be salivating over.

Gunther won’t be hurt by loss to Cody Rhodes

WWE backed itself into a corner with Gunther vs. Cody Rhodes, but in the end it worked out as well as WWE could have hoped.

The end of what was a stellar back-and-forth match came when Rhodes defeated Gunther via a nifty pin, giving Gunther a rare defeat and Rhodes another marquee victory. Heading into Crown Jewel, there were questions about why WWE would even book this match, but ultimately it came down to a case of “no harm, no foul.”

Gunther wasn’t defeated, so the loss won’t stop his momentum like it would have had he lost after a Cross Rhodes finisher. Meanwhile, Rhodes looked like an even bigger star after the win and Gunther’s post-match handshake, fitting for a returning character who treats wrestling like a legitimate sport.

There is still reason to believe that Gunther will hold the world title until 2025 while Rhodes will also continue his reign. It’s a win-win situation for a match that could have been a booking disaster if it had gone any other way.

Roman Reigns Shockingly Pinned by Solo Sikoa

Solo Sikoa cleanly pinned Roman Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel. No, it wasn’t a typo.

Over the course of nearly half a decade, “The OTC” has been pinned by exactly two people, Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes, making his loss to Sikoa one of the most shocking booking decisions in recent memory . But that’s exactly what this storyline needed.

The Bloodline’s version of Reign clearly packs much greater star power, and Sikoa, frankly, hasn’t been presented as an equal to Reigns. Although Sikoa still has a long way to go to enter this category, WWE has taken a giant step towards making this Battle of the Bloodlines more credible with the victory of the new faction in Saudi Arabia.

Reigns has to have certain vulnerabilities and weaknesses as a babyface, and after taking the pin at Crown Jewel, it’s clear that he has to be on the same page as the Usos, otherwise he won’t have the same success than a fan favorite. he did it like a bad guy.
