The company – which the host chose not to name, but was identified by Weekly Entertainment under the name Holtermann’s Bakery – later denied this claim.

After an hour of birthday celebrations – including Goldberg treating the audience to his favorite things and a performance from his friend James Monroe Iglehart – in the episode, The view’The co-hosts tasted a dessert dear to the actress: Charlotte Russe.

The dessert – a treat with layers of sponge cake, Bavarian cream and fruit – was one of Goldberg’s mother’s favorites growing up, the star explained before revealing she had difficulty getting the dish topped with cherries from the Staten Island bakery. .

“Now I have to tell you, Charlotte Russe has no political leanings, and the place that made them refused to make them for me,” the actress explained as the crowd gasped.

Her co-hosts also had strong reactions to the news, with Sunny Hostin asking, “Oh, really?” and Sara Haines immediately spitting out her mouthful, making the audience laugh.

“They said their ovens broke, all kinds of things, but people still went and got them,” Goldberg explained, “that’s why I’m not telling you who made them.”

But, the Sisters Act The star theorized: “It’s not possible because I’m a woman, but maybe they didn’t like my politics.”

After the actress claimed on air that the bakery rejected her because of her political views and used technical difficulties as an excuse, Holtermann’s Bakery owner Jill Holtermann denied this, stating THIS that “it was not because of political affiliations”, but rather because “we were having problems with our boilers”.

Holtermann said that The view The co-host first asked for treats for a talk show appearance on Nov. 6 as well as for her birthday show, which the pastry chef refused to do because she “didn’t want to make a commitment that I can’t hold.” »

“I told Whoopi, ‘I can’t do it right now,'” she told the outlet. “There’s so much going on with my boiler,’ because the building is from 1930, so when she called me, I had no idea (if we could) get everything ready.”

The bakery owner also confirmed Goldberg’s claim that a woman, whom neither identified, came to pick up about 50 Charlotte Russe desserts on the morning of November 13, which the owner may have ultimately prepared despite the boiler problems.

She also said THIS that she did not know who this woman was, nor that she had any affiliations with Goldberg or The view.
