Klay Thompson ‘pissed off’ Steph Curry by ghosting him before game, says Draymond Green

All eyes were turned towards Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday as Klay Thompson returned to the Bay Area to face the team with which he spent his first 11 seasons and won four championships.

The Warriors made a stylish tribute video for Thompson, who waved to the raucous crowd after the game ended. However, forward Draymond Green revealed that Thompson ghosted “Splash Brother” Steph Curryand Curry was pretty “excited” about it.

Green revealed his conversation with Curry during his “Draymond Green Show” with former NBA guard Baron Davis, saying Curry was supposed to speak on Thompson’s behalf before the game.

Everything changed after Thompson didn’t respond to his former teammate.

“So finally, (Tuesday) morning, I text Steph, and I text her like, ‘Hey, listen here, big dog, I need you locked up. Whatever you need to do , if so, watch this tribute video, I said I was going to do the same thing,’” Green said. “So by the time Steph gets to the game (Tuesday) night, he’s f—ing pissed.

“As soon as I texted him, he called me right away. So, I tried to stir the pot a little, baby. So, I kissed Steph because Steph was supposed to speak before the game He likes “Yeah, I called (Warriors senior vice president of communications) Raymond (Ridder) and told him I wasn’t talking, I just needed to focus on the game, so I wouldn’t. don’t even speak. And I talked to Klay. about this.’ I tried to check something with Klay, and Klay ghosted him, so he got stung, and off we went.

Curry then dropped a game-high 37 points, including a 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter, recreating his “all night” celebration from this year’s Paris Olympics.

Curry ran to the other end of the court and apparently yelled, “You better stay here,” which many believe was directed at Thompson.

Thompson also had a great night, scoring 22 points with four rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes despite losing 120-117.

“The evening couldn’t have gone better, when it comes to NBA writers, as they say on Twitter and Instagram,” Green said.

Klay Thompson very well played. Amazing. And they lost. That’s why we needed the night.”

Curry may have been “p—ed” before the game, but after the final buzzer sounded, he and Thompson hugged him.
