“I like where I am”

Add Michael Irvin to the list of people interested in seeing Deion Sanders as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Cowboys icons had the chance to chat Tuesday on FS1 Talk, discussing a range of topics, including the work Sanders has done in Colorado. Sanders currently has the Buffaloes at 7-2 and in prime position to contend for the Big 12 championship.

While crediting Sanders for his ability to encourage young athletes, Irvin shared his thoughts on Coach Prime’s return to Dallas.

“No place needs people to encourage people to be better than they really are except Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys,” Irvin said. “I know you’re focused every day, I know you’re an every day man.”

As Irvin continued his speech, Sanders grabbed the laptop he was using for his television interview and stood up to walk out of his office at Folsom Field. Sanders then showed the Talk the crew his views from Colorado Stadium in Boulder.

“Let me get the computer here because you’re starting to talk that way. I have to show you where I am,” Sanders said. “I like where I am.”

Rex Ryan says Dallas Cowboys ‘could be in play’ to hire Deion Sanders as head coach

Sanders was 38-16 in five seasons as a collegiate head coach. He is in his second season coaching the Buffaloes after leaving Jackson State, where he led the Tigers to a 27-5 record and back-to-back Southwestern Athletic Conference championships in three seasons.

With the Cowboys going through a difficult season in the final year of Mike McCarthy’s contract, several analysts have linked Sanders’ name to the Dallas head coaching position. Rex Ryan, former NFL head coach recently said on ESPN Get up that Deion Sanders “could be in play” take over in Dallas.

Sanders suited up for the Cowboys from 1995 to 1999, throwing 14 interceptions while earning multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections. He helped Dallas to a victory against Pittsburgh in Super Bowl XXX.
