Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch’s on-field actions have had a negative impact on his portfolio.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the NFL fined Branch $20,256 for his hit on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Bo Melton and his move that saw him knock over Packers fans with both hands.

He was ejected from the game following the hit and made this obscene gesture as he left the field.

After the match, Branch acknowledged that he agreed with the referee’s call and apologized for the incident with the fans.

“It’s not something I wanted to show off or want people to notice me like that,” Branch said. Eric Woodyard from ESPN. “It was just the heat of the moment for me, and I apologize to anyone who saw it and it won’t happen again.”

Although Branch will take a hit to his bank account, he was not suspended for his actions and will be available for the Lions’ Week 10 game against the Houston Texans.

Branch is in his second season in the NFL and has been a major contributor to the Lions’ strong defense. He played in seven games, recording 40 tackles, 11 pass deflections, four interceptions and a forced fumble.

Detroit is currently 7-1 and in first place in the NFC North. Sunday’s game against the Texans is scheduled to begin at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
