Investigators in search area for Jodi Huisentruit case outside Twin Cities

MASON CITY, Iowa (WBAY/WSAW) – Organizers behind the website FindJodi.com say a tip led to new clues during Jodi Huisentruit’s 30-year search.

Huisentruit was a Minnesota television reporter who disappeared on June 27, 1995, in Mason City, Iowa. Huisentruit was 27 years old when she disappeared.

According to CBSwhen she failed to arrive at the television station for her morning shift, concerned colleagues alerted the police. Outside his apartment building, police found signs of a fight, including around his car, which was still in the parking lot. Investigators believe someone attacked her as she walked to her car for the first report.

Recently, Mason City investigators searched an area of ​​Winsted, Minn., outside the Twin Cities, following a lead.

Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley confirmed the purpose of the search in a brief statement to FindJodi:

“MCPD recently worked with Minnesota law enforcement to follow up on a lead in Winsted. MCPD continues to regularly receive, evaluate and follow up on information it receives regarding the disappearance of Jodi Huisentruit. Information collected through these efforts will be used in the ongoing investigation. At this time, there is no additional information to make public. We would like to encourage anyone with information regarding Jodi’s disappearance to contact MCPD or the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
