Ultra-low temperatures (ULT) have become ultra-cool as B Medical Systems has introduced a new ULT freezer that balances performance and energy efficiency. In the world of life sciences, these freezers are expected to maintain temperatures close to minus 80°C in order to preserve the quality and viability of various samples or sensitive materials.

B Medical Systems introduced U701Vwhich has a variable speed compressor that saves energy because it can adjust the cooling rate as needed, uses a hydrocarbon-based refrigerant that has a much lower environmental impact and meets standards international broadcasting. But arguably the most interesting and important feature is the fast recovery time, which helps maintain ultra-low temperatures even when the freezer is used regularly.

While the freezer may not be the ideal choice for everyone, it is a much-needed solution for the life sciences industry as research and development projects aim to further integrate of ULT technology.

Container shipping giant Maersk has made significant changes to its refrigerant choices. The company is moving forward with hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) refrigerant R-1234yf. Maersk has an ambitious goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire business by 2040. The company is therefore looking to be more energy efficient and this new refrigerant can help achieve this.

R-1234yf is classified as an A2L low-flammability refrigerant, which is a slight improvement in flammability over Maersk’s current refrigerant, but the company has a safety plan in place to protect property, equipment and people.

According to Global freight news“R-1234yf is widely used in HVAC systems and has been the standard for automotive air conditioning in Europe and the United States since 2017. Maersk has held its first training sessions and is “confident that reefer technicians will be capable” handle and maintain R-1234yf equipment. … Maersk is also committed to providing the training, support and development necessary to ensure safe handling.

The way November is going, it seems like every week will bring new headlines about Uncrustables, the frozen peanut butter and jelly sandwich that doesn’t have a crust. Although the NFL orders large quantities of this beloved sandwich, it is no match for everyday consumers. While the portable sandwich brand appears to reach nearly $1 billion in annual salesparent company JM Smucker is looking to capitalize on this popularity.

In McCalla, Alabama, Smucker opened a 900,000 square foot manufacturing facility dedicated exclusively to Uncrustables. How Smucker creates sandwiches with the perfect ratio of bread to filling and keeps the bread soft once in the freezer remains a closely guarded company secret, but given the brand’s growth, we’ll likely see a lot more of it . hand treats in the years to come.

President Mark Smucker said in a press release“The 900,000 square foot manufacturing facility will increase the company’s current production capacity for its Uncrustables brand to help meet demand for the popular frozen sandwiches.”

SONAR Tickers: ROTVI.CHI, ROTRI.CHI

This week’s market under the microscope is the Windy City. The capacity of outgoing reefers in Chicago is easing after a period of severe constraints. Outbound refrigerated tender volumes are down, falling 10.11% week over week. Rejects of outgoing reefers declined from their highest rate of the year, falling from 24.25% on November 7 to 17.99% on November 14, a drop of 406 basis points p /p.

Refrigerator capacity is tighter this time of year than in previous years because the frost protection season is here and, food-wise, those turkeys aren’t going to give in on their own . Reefer spot rates will be high in the majority of markets, particularly Chicago, relative to historical rates due to the increase in ROTRI.
