In a democracy we get the government we deserve

Candidate Trump made a lot of promises and I called a lot of people namesbut experts assured us that Trump was meant to be taken seriously, just not literally.

Some promises he kept. He cut taxes on corporations and the wealthy and increased the national debt by $7.8 trillion. He shut down the government for a month, trying to wring $5.7 billion from a Republican-controlled Congress to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. He never had the money, never built the wall, and its closure cost the nation $11 billion.

He failed to keep his promise to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Some promises may have to wait until his second term.

Almost every week during Trump’s first term, the White House seemed to send out press releases announcing that Infrastructure Week was close. The president had pledged to invest $1 trillion in the country’s crumbling infrastructure, and by golly, this week, or next week, or the week after that, would be the week he kept his promises. Infrastructure Week didn’t arrive until 2021, when the Biden administration and Congress crafted the bipartisan $553 billion Infrastructure Act.

This time, there is a plan. If you didn’t read it before the election, it’s a little late now.
