Why the Rams vs. Eagles game will be indicative of an offense

The Los Angeles Rams started the season with one of the toughest schedules of any team in the National Football League. They did it without some of their best players on both sides of the ball, leading to a disastrous start.

However, the Rams have become healthier over the past month and their record reflects that as well. The Rams have won four of their last five games and return home to face the Philadelphia Eagles.

Ben Rolfe of The Sporting News credited the Rams for not allowing the New England Patriots to become a trap game by successfully defeating an inferior opponent.

However, the Rams have a much tougher task ahead this Sunday when the Eagles come to town.

“The Los Angeles Rams picked up an impressive road victory in New England, avoiding a potential stumble hazard in their fight to stay in the NFC West,” Rolfe said. “They now return home to face a Philadelphia Eagles team that has more rest and is the superior team in terms of our metrics.

“They both grade the same offensively and on special teams, but the Eagles have the edge defensively. However, the Rams played both teams’ much tougher schedules.

While many signs point to the Rams having a chance to win the game, Rolfe believes being favored by the Eagles is the right decision. He notes that the Eagles have a formidable defense that matches up well with the Rams on paper.

“Philadelphia is rightly the favorite in this matchup, while Los Angeles proves difficult to judge from week to week,” Rolf said. “The Eagles haven’t always been convincing on offense, but their defense should be able to shut down the Rams’ offense. The under is a really intriguing play here in a game that could total around 40 points.

The Rams undoubtedly have a a difficult schedule ahead which competes with their busy schedule to start the season. However, this is the NFL and nothing comes easy, especially not playoff spots.

Los Angeles has little margin for error in the NFC where many teams will be vying for a Wild Card spot. If the Rams want to make the playoffs, they need to play like the playoffs start this week against Philadelphia.
