Florida AG Promises Truth About FEMA Bias Allegations Will Be Revealed Amid Political Discrimination Scandal

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody responded to reports that Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) workers in parts of Florida were instructed to ignore hurricane victims’ households who had expressed their support for President-elect Donald Trump.

“I fully expect that this discrimination or violation of the civil rights of Trump supporters will extend beyond Florida, even to other affected states and areas,” Moody said in response to the reports. Florida’s attorney general has since filed a lawsuit over alleged bias at FEMA.

Some whistleblowers have reported that FEMA workers Lake Placid, Florida, were asked to ignore the households of storm victims who had shown support for Trump.

“That’s why I wanted to file suit so quickly: not only because we’re in the middle of hurricane season, and I don’t want Trump supporters and supporters of any political candidate to be discriminated against, frankly, but we want to make sure that this widespread policy is uncovered if what (former FEMA Supervisor Marn’i Washington) says is true,” Moody said.

Marn’i Washington, a fired FEMA supervisor, said her actions were within the agency’s guidelines and were not limited to her team. She claimed FEMA was making her a scapegoat.

“That’s exactly what Trump has been saying all along,” Moody said. “They’re not just out to get me, they’re out to get you, and I want to stop this, I want to rid this from our agencies.”

Moody said there is a “criminal” side to the case that could be brought under the next Trump administration.

“FEMA workers followed these instructions and entered messages into a government database such as ‘Trump does not sign any entries by direction,'” the lawsuit says. “According to whistleblowers, ‘at least 20 homes displaying Trump signs or flags’ in Lake Placid, Florida, ‘were ignored between late October and November due to the guidelines.'”
