JD Vance is poised to become the youngest vice president in decades and the first Ohio-born vice president in more than 100 years.

For the first time in more than a century, Cincinnati will have a native son on the winning presidential ticket. JD Vance prepares to take oath as vice-president.

At 40, Vance will become the youngest vice president since Richard Nixon took office in the 1950s. He is also the first vice president born in Ohio since Charles Dawes served under Calvin Coolidge in the 1920s.

Vance’s ties to the tri-state area are strong. His Cincinnati home is now under the protection of cameras, armed guards and signs indicating a restricted area by the United States Secret Service. This stands in stark contrast to his upbringing in Middletown, where he was raised by his grandmother, whom he affectionately calls “ma’am.”

President-elect Donald Trump praised Vance at a celebratory rally, saying:

It turned out to be a good choice. I took a little heat at first, but I knew the brain was good. About as good as it gets. »

Vance addressed his supporters about what the future might look like under Trump’s second term.

Under the leadership of President Trump, we will never stop fighting for you, for your dreams, for your children’s future. After the greatest political comeback in American history, we will lead the greatest economic comeback in American history under the leadership of Donald Trump. »

Despite having only two years of political experience, Vance was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2022 and rose to fame as the author of “Hillbilly Elegy,” a memoir about his working-class upbringing. At a rally in Middletown in July, one supporter expressed confidence in Vance, saying:

“He and Trump are going to work very hard to make sure everyone’s voices are heard. Work to make sure everyone gets a good education, not indoctrination.”

With the support of working-class voters, the Trump/Vance slate secured victory. Returning to Cincinnati to vote, Vance shared his commitment, saying, “If I have the chance to be your vice president, I will fight hard for your dreams and your family for the next four years.” »
