Man faces seven years in prison after being found with ghost gun

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — The Broome County Prosecutor’s Office announced the conviction of a man on a weapons charge Thursday.

The District Attorney’s Office said Namique McBride, 18, of Binghamton, is expected to serve seven years in prison for second-degree criminal possession of a weapon as a second-degree felony offender.

The office said McBride pleaded guilty to the crime on Nov. 4.

On May 4, the Binghamton Police Department and Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force stopped a vehicle that had been reported stolen. McBride was a passenger in that vehicle.

The office said McBridge fled on foot as officers approached him. When he was apprehended near State Street, police found a loaded ghost gun hidden in his waistband.

McBride is scheduled to appear in court again for formal sentencing on January 24, 2025. He is also expected to serve five years of probation.

Senior Deputy Prosecutor Sarah Dean prosecuted the case.
