Utah football was bitten by a snake at quarterback during the 2024 college football season.

Already down three quarters heading into Saturday’s game against. Travis Hunter And No. 20 ColoradoTHE Utes could play without the services of a fourth: Isaac Wilson. Former Colorado coach Ron McBride said on a radio show Friday night that Wilson would not be available due to an “illness” Saturday against the Buffaloes.

If Wilson were to miss the game, fourth-string quarterback Luke Bottari, who had been listed as Wilson’s replacement this week, would earn the start.

Isaac Wilson injury update

12:14 p.m.: Isaac Wilson, in fact, deserves to start for the Utes despite the fact that he is ill.

11:43 p.m. Max Olson of The Athletic reports that Wilson is suited up and took first-team reps in warmups.

According to Bryan Fischer of Sports Illustrated, despite questions regarding his playing status for Saturday against Colorado, Wilson took the field and warmed up with his teammates.

Utah has already lost Cam Rising and Sam Huard to season-ending injuries. Brandon Rose, who made his first career start last week against BYU, was injured last week and required surgery, which will also keep him out for the rest of the season.

Wilson, a freshman, initially replaced Rising as starter following the senior’s injury. He has totaled 1,200 yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions this season. Wilson – the younger brother of NFL quarterback Zach Wilson – was on the bench during a 17-14 loss to Houston on October 26.
