    Hong Kong rail giant launches controversial initiative campaign attempt to persuade commuters to abandon their ingrained habits by standing still on both sides of escalators rather than leaving the left to those who wish to pass in a hurry.
    THE MTR Company cited safety concerns when it unveiled its initiative on Friday, after 430 accidents involving station escalators were recorded in the first nine months of the year.

    But the attempt to change common practices has sparked heated discussion, with many rejecting the suggestion of waiting patiently on escalators and saying it is at odds with the city’s rapidly changing environment.
