What are the 2024 Queensland election results so far?

The Queensland election was not supposed to end this way: the LNP’s best-laid plans were doomed to failure.

It was supposed to end quickly, but somewhere in the last fortnight Queenslanders changed the script, writes the ABC’s Matt Eaton.

When will the counting resume?

Vote counting for the Queensland election will resume at 9am today.

It will take longer than usual because many people have voted early or by post, says Pat Vidgen of the Electoral Commission of Queensland.

More than 1.6 million people voted at early voting centers and QEC also expects approximately 200,000 postal votes.

Votes cast outside their electoral district will not be counted until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Who is David Crisafulli, the new Premier of Queensland?

David Crisafulli led his party for almost a decade in opposition.

The 45-year-old grew up on the North Queensland sugar cane farm that his father still operates today.

It was bought by his late grandfather Franchesco, who came to Australia from Italy in 1960 and whom Mr Crisafulli describes as his mentor.
