Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk and his pro-Trump organization, America PAC, in an effort to stop Musk’s controversial $1 million donation campaign aimed at registered voters.

“The America PAC and Musk are urging citizens of Philadelphia – and other members of the Commonwealth (and other swing states in upcoming elections) – to give up their personally identifiable information and make a political commitment in exchange of a chance to win $1 million,” the report said. the lawsuit alleges. “It’s a lottery.”

According to multiple media outlets, on October 19, Musk and America PAC launched a $1 million daily distribution aimed at voters in select swing states. Participants are required to provide personal identifying information, including their cell phone number and address, as well as sign a petition affirming their support for the Constitution and the right to bear arms. Those who comply become eligible for a “random” chance to win the $1 million prize.

In the lawsuit, Krasner and his team argued that all lotteries should be organized and managed by the state. They also claim the initiative violates state consumer protection regulations by “deploying misleading, vague, or misleading statements that create a likelihood of confusion or misunderstanding.”

Musk contributed several million dollars to America PAC, which was created earlier this spring to help the Trump campaign register and mobilize voters in crucial battleground states. Notable supporters also include Joe Lonsdale and the Winklevoss twins, Cameron and Tyler. Musk appears to have embedded himself in the Trump campaign, having attended and spoken at the former president’s rallies twice, while also promoting anti-Kamala Harris messages on social media.

The lawsuit demands that Musk and his super PAC immediately stop the giveaways.

“The conduct of an illegal lottery and violation of consumer protections provides sufficient basis for an injunction to conclude that America PAC and Musk must be stopped immediately before the upcoming November 5 presidential election,” the complaint states.
