TL;DR

  • Google was working on a new filter for search results in Gmail on Android.
  • The filter is now operational.
  • Users can sort their search results by “Most Recent” or “Most Relevant”.

Google makes it easy to find the messages you are looking for in the Gmail application for Android. You can now sort your search results with a new filter.

You may remember that we reported A few weeks ago, Google was working on a new search filter for the Android version of Gmail. This filter would allow the user to sort their search results by either “Most Recent” or “Most Relevant”. It looks like this feature is now rolling out to some users.

Just like we showed in our previous screenshots, the filter appears just below the search bar. By tapping on the filter, both options will appear at the bottom of the screen. There you can sort your search results as you wish.

We’ve also reported seeing cards at the top of the screen, which usually only appear in order emails. However, it appears that these cards were not deployed with the new filter. They may be deployed later or not deployed at all.

Another thing we recently found in Gmail on Android was a AI-powered “Polish” tool to help users narrow down emails containing 12 words or more. We’re still waiting to see if Google decides to make this feature public.
