Eric Trump says his brother encouraged his father to appear on Joe Rogan’s podcast

Eric Trump has confirmed that his younger brother Barron persuaded his father to go on a podcast tour as part of efforts to court Gen Z and millennial voters.

Eric, Trump’s second son, said the president-elect’s podcast circuit during the US election campaign contributed “a lot” to his increase in his vote share among young people.

While Kamala Harris won the overall 18- to 29-year-old vote by six points, Mr. Trump won 56% of men in that age bracket, far more than the 40% of young women who voted for Mr. Trump .

These numbers represent a big improvement for Mr. Trump among young people compared to his previous elections and suggest a growing political gender divide.

Barron, 18, is Donald Trump’s youngest son and was rumored to be helping his father with his election strategy.

During the campaign, Mr Trump appeared on several podcasts popular with young people, dubbed the “brothers” tour in the US media.

These include The Joe Rogan Experience – the world’s biggest podcast – as well as podcasts with internet personalities Theo Von and Logan Paul.

He also spoke with Adin Ross, a friend of Andrew Tate, a self-described misogynist accused of human trafficking – which he denies – in Romania.

Speaking during a visit to Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire, Eric said podcasts had helped his father capture a new demographic.

He told the PA news agency: “It was certainly him (Barron) who suggested to him (Mr Trump) that he get on some of the very young podcasts.

Politics is a nasty game, and we’ve seen it from every angle

“Obviously, Joe Rogan is one of the biggest podcasters in the world, so it’s not like it hasn’t occurred to us to talk about Joe Rogan, but you know, he speaks to a different demographic in terms of voters, and now he (Barron) has definitely suggested some podcasts that are more millennial, even younger.

“Some of them were fantastic.”

Eric said podcast appearances may have helped his father be more successful with young people during elections.

“My father did incredibly well with the youth vote,” he said, “and he captured segments of the vote that he had never captured before.

“And I’m sure a lot of that was due to the podcast circuit that he really got into.”

Speaking about his own political ambitions, Eric said he would not rule out a future US presidential bid.

“Never say never,” he said. “But I love business, I love construction. I love what I do now.

“And politics is a nasty game, and we’ve seen it from every angle.

“I have become the most subpoenaed person in the history of the United States for no reason other than the fact that they want to use me to try to take down my father.”

He added: “It would have to be a decision at the moment, it would be a decision based on the situation in the country at that time. »

President-elect Trump, 78, will be inaugurated on January 20 as the 47th president of the United States, succeeding Joe Biden.
