Judge denies Gledhill permission to speak to his children

SALT LAKE CITY – Jennifer Gledhill appeared in court again Friday, seeking permission to speak to her young children while behind bars for allegedly murdering her husband.

During the hearing, Gledhill’s attorney argued that the pretrial protective order, which bars him from contacting the children, was “improperly placed and authorized.”

The attorney said because the children are not victims in this case or any other domestic violence event, they should be allowed to have contact with Gledhill.

Gledhill appears to contradict himself on the origin of the body bruises

Gledhill’s children, ages 11, 7 and 5, have been in the custody of the Utah Division of Children and Family Services since their mother was arrested in the death of Matthew Johnson.

THURSDAY, Gledhill’s parents have both been taken into custody and face multiple charges of obstruction of justice. for allegedly helping their daughter clean the bedroom where she is accused of shooting Johnson while he slept.

Johnson’s body has not yet been found.

“My client has already lost her freedom at that point,” Gledhill’s lawyer added. “I feel like the state, the city and the police who investigated this case are trying to set fire to everything my client loves.”

At the end of the hearing, Judge Adam Mow effectively lifted the pre-trial protection order, but issued a separate no-contact order to be put in place, meaning Gledhill is still not allowed to communicate with children.

Mow said as the case moves forward, he would be willing to make exceptions to the no-contact order because it affects not only Gledhill, but the children as well.
