Tyson ‘almost died’ months before Paul defeat – FBC News

Mike Tyson described his loss to Jake Paul as a personal victory, revealing the serious health problems he overcame earlier this year to return to the ring.

The 58-year-old boxing legend lost to the YouTuber-turned-boxer by unanimous decision in their eight-round fight in Texas on Friday.

Despite the outcome, Tyson took to Instagram to share his views on the experience.

“It’s one of those situations where you lost but still won, I’m grateful for last night. No regrets about getting in the ring one last time.

Tyson revealed he was facing life-threatening health issues just months before the fight.

“I almost died in June. I received eight blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25 pounds in the hospital and had to fight to get healthy, so I won.

The fight, which took place at the Dallas Cowboys stadium, was heavily criticized for being lackluster, with fans booing towards the end.

Tyson only managed to land 18 punches over the eight rounds, compared to Paul’s 78. It was Tyson’s seventh defeat in 57 professional fights.

The fight was originally scheduled for July but was postponed due to medical advice after Tyson suffered a stomach ulcer flare-up.

He has now revealed that the situation is much more serious than initially reported.
