STATEWIDE–The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship application is now open to high school and college students interested in pursuing a career in education.

It costs $10,000 per year and is available for up to four academic years to students who commit to teaching in Indiana for at least five years.

State Rep. Michelle Davis of Whiteland said that last year, after a record number of applications, Indiana awarded more than 300 scholarships with applications from 89 of 92 counties.

“Teachers play a major role in inspiring and encouraging the next generation of Hoosiers. With a scholarship like this, students can pursue their passion for teaching without any financial stress,” Davis said.

Applicants must graduate in the top 20% of their high school graduating class, have an ACT or SAT score in the top 20%, or have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a scale of 4 ,0.

“This Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship is a unique opportunity for Indiana to invest in our future teachers. I encourage any interested student to apply today,” said State Rep. Jake Teshka of North Liberty.
