Lemoore woman in critical condition after brutal domestic violence attack, calls for help

A Lemoore woman is now surrounded by her loved ones after family members say she survived a brutal domestic violence attack that nearly killed her.

The attacker? They say he was her boyfriend.

FOX26 learns she was put into a medically induced coma due to the brutality with which she was beaten.

Luckily, they say she was able to escape and get help from neighbors who called 9-1-1.

It was a crime scene. It was reported as such…and if you’ve ever watched a mafia type movie, that’s exactly what it looked like. I mean, blood everywhere. I mean, it was splattered on the curtains from the floor, said Amanda Krick, one of the victim’s cousins.

They described what happened as a torture chamber as they shared the traumatic moments that took place in the home of Desiree Diaz, 40, in Lemoore.

That’s where they say Desiree’s ex-boyfriend beat, bludgeoned and nearly beat her to death on November 13.

She said it lasted about an hour, said Teresa Diaz, Desiree’s mother.

Until they said so, she escaped and called for help and was rushed to the hospital.

They had to take her to Fresno with the helicopter because she was unstable, Teresa Diaz said.

Teresa says she was barely conscious.

She says Desiree’s head was split open after being hit with a frying pan and seeing what the attacker did to her daughter was almost more than she could bear.

I got closer… There was my baby’s life yeah, that was my first thought because they wouldn’t let us go up to the ambulance. They didn’t let us see, Teresa Diaz said.

See the damage on his body and face as well as the bite marks.

And inside, the damage she couldn’t see made her cough up blood.

Trauma to his liver and fluid between his brain and skull.

They didn’t know if she would make it or not. said Therese.

All because of someone she loved and thought she loved her.

Her now ex-boyfriend, Octavio Amador Tavira, 41 years old.

Amanda Krick, cousin

At first, they were very much in love. And I was just happy that she was. She seemed very happy and they were together all the time, Krick said.

They had been together for a little over a year and we all loved him, we thought he was really nice, a really good guy as we thought he treated her really well, Teresa said.

Tavira was arrested on November 15 and now faces charges of torture, corporal injury to a spouse, threats of violence and attempted murder.

I’ll never forget what that looked like and I mean, cleaning your own family’s blood off a carpet, Krick said.

The family now hopes the community can step in to help Desiree get a fresh start and wash away the memories and stains of what happened to her that day.

The family also tells FOX26 she will not return to her old job.

It was there that she and Tavira met.

On top of that, a member of his family is one of his bosses.

They say she wouldn’t feel comfortable returning to that environment after everything that happened.

A GoFundMe A fundraiser was set up to help Désirée get through it.
