HAMPTON, Va. — A swimmer went missing off Outlook Beach at Fort Monroe in Hampton, prompting a search by the U.S. Coast Guard Friday.

Around 4 p.m., U.S. Coast Guard Sector Virginia said it was working with local emergency medical services to search for the missing swimmer. They said the swimmer was an African American wearing a blue swimsuit.

The man did not resurface after sinking, the Coast Guard shared.
