Bret Baier Sweeps Ratings for Post-Election Evening Coverage

Fox News dominated cable news ratings during vice presidency Kamala Harris concession speech this week with presenters Bret Baier And Martha MacCallum at the bar.

The channel attracted 7.9 million viewers during the speech, according to Nielsen Media Research data, as well as 1.4 million viewers in the coveted 25-54 demographic. Additionally, Fox News’ coverage absorbed 64 percent of the cable news audience — a record for the network’s post-election coverage.

Meanwhile, CNN attracted 2.2 million viewers as well as 555,000 people aged 25 to 54 during the vice president’s speech. Fox competitor MSNBC attracted 2.3 million viewers for the event, including 353,000 in the 25-54 age group. CBS News drew 1.5 million viewers compared to NBC’s 1.7 million and ABC’s 2.4 million during Harris’ speech.

Following the speech, Special report with Bret Baier at 6 p.m. attracted 5.1 million viewers and 928,000 among 25-54 year olds, beating CBS Evening News to 4.5 million viewers.

Overall, Fox News remained at the top of election coverage before and after the race for the president-elect was called. Donald Trumpbeating CNN and MSNBC by wide audience margins across the board.

Fox also scored a rare victory on ABC’s daytime show The View on Thursday, as America Reports and The Faulkner Focus drew 4.6 million and 4.5 million viewers, respectively. The View, which is consistently the highest-rated daytime talk show, attracted 4.47 million viewers.

On election night, Fox News attracted 9.7 million viewers, followed by MSNBC with 5.5 million viewers in prime time, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET. CNN lost more than half its audience on election night compared to 2020, attracting 4.7 million total viewers in prime time.

Compared to 2020, Fox’s ratings fell as it attracted 14 million viewers in prime time that year, manufacturing it is the most-watched coverage in cable news history.
