What the oddsmakers think will happen

No. 21 LSU (6-3, 3-2) will look to bounce back in Week 12 in a matchup against Billy Napier and the Florida Gators scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday afternoon .

The Tigers’ College Football Playoff hopes dimmed Saturday night at Tiger Stadium after a disastrous 42-13 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Brian Kelly and Co. will now be on the outside looking in after falling to 6-3 on the season with their second Southeast Conference loss of the year.

LSU has now dropped three contests against Southern Cal, Texas A&M and Alabama.

Now, with three games remaining on the regular season schedule and a bowl game also on the schedule, the Bayou Bengals will have an opportunity to eclipse their third straight 10-win season under Kelly.

“We have an opportunity to finish the season strong and we’re hoping for at least a 10-win season, and that’s a standard for this program,” Kelly said Monday. “We need to play more consistently. Offensive, defensive and special teams. That’s what’s most important. Consistency plays and plays.

All attention now turns to this Saturday against Billy Napier and the Gators, with the Tigers heading to Gainesville.

A look at early betting lines, trends and what bettors are predicting for Week 12:

The LSU Tigers are currently 4.5-point favorites heading into the Week 12 clash. A line that was hovering around the five-point mark a week ago, Vegas continues to lean toward the Tigers as favorites on Saturday night.

LSU is 3-6 against the spread (33.3%) overall so far this season.

Florida is 5-4 (55.6%) against the spread in 2024.

LSU is 1-2 against the spread on the road.

Florida is 2-3 ATS at home.

LSU is 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games.

Florida is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games.

LSU is 2-4 ATS in their last 6 road games.

Florida is 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against LSU.

The total has gone over in 10 of LSU’s last 11 road games.

The total has been over in 6 of Florida’s last 9 home games.

LSU is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite.

Florida is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games on a Saturday.

LSU continues to receive the majority of bets heading into the Week 12 clash against the Florida Gators in Gainesville.

According to College Football-HQ: “LSU is getting 73 percent of the bets to win the game and cover the narrow spread to avoid a third straight loss. The remaining 27 percent of the bets project Florida to win outright in an upset, or will keep the final margin under five points in a defeat.

Early point spread means a narrow 30-25 win for the LSU Tigers on the road against Billy Napier and the Florida Gators.

LSU Tigers vs. Florida Gators: 57% chance

The Bayou Bengals enter Saturday night in Gainesville with a 57% chance of coming away with a win, according to ESPN’s FPI.

Kelly and Co. will board a flight later this week to the Sunshine State for another Southeastern Conference road game where Billy Napier and the Gators will be waiting.

For Florida, this is a program that has nothing to lose this season after announcing Napier will return in 2025.

But the key factor here will be Gators signal-caller DJ Lagway and his status before kickoff as he nurses a hamstring injury.

Still, ESPN’s FPI gives LSU a 57% chance of securing a win in Week 12 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
