The San Francisco 49ers are expected to welcome back their top offensive playmaker for the 2023 season. Running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles tendinitis), who was placed on injured reserve to start the year, saw his practice window opened Monday and enjoyed his first full week of practice with the team since being sidelined. McCaffrey was a limited participant Wednesday and Thursday and closed out the 49ers’ final practice Friday as a full participant. He enters the weekend with a questionable injury designation, however, the plan is for him to debut Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

“We’ll take him off IR tomorrow,” Shanahan said. “He’ll be ready to go.”
