OpenAI’s ChatGPT search is now available

OpenAI has finally launched ChatGPT Search on the web as an alternative to Google Search.

OpenAI announced that ChatGPT can now search the web more efficiently than ever. It can now provide links to relevant web sources, just like a traditional search engine.

Here’s how it works according to OpenAI:

ChatGPT can now search the web in a much better way than before. You can get quick and timely answers with links to relevant web sources, for which you previously would have had to go to a search engine. This combines the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and much more.

ChatGPT will choose to search the web based on what you ask, or you can manually choose to search by clicking the web search icon.

ChatGPT Search, powered by ChatGPT-4o, is now available on the ChatGPT website, desktop and mobile apps for ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Teams users. OpenAI is also expanding access to ChatGPT users who were on the SearchGPT waitlist today. Enterprise and education users can expect this feature in the coming weeks. ChatGPT Search will be gradually rolled out to all free users over the coming months.
