Mohamed Salah named Liverpool player of the month for October

Mohamed Salah has been voted Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Month for October.

The 32-year-old featured in all six of the Reds’ games last month and scored three goals for Arne Slot’s side as they remained unbeaten.

Salah assisted Alexis Mac Allister in the opener against Bologna before scoring a spectacular goal to seal the Champions League victory.

He was on the scoresheet again in the 2-1 win over Chelsea at Anfield, also setting up Curtis Jones’ decisive goal.

The Egypt international played a key role in Darwin Nunez’s only goal against RB Leipzig.

He then saved a point for his side at Arsenal with an 81st minute equalizer.

This is the second time in the 2024-25 season that Salah has won the award after receiving the most votes in a recent supporters’ poll on Liverpoolfc.com.

Ibrahima Konate and Ryan Gravenberch finished second and third, respectively.

Collecting the award today at the AXA Training Center, Salah said: “It’s a great feeling when the team is flying and winning games – that’s the most important thing. I don’t think I would be so happy if I play well and the team doesn’t win.

“But the most important thing is to continue like this and I hope we continue to win games.”

When asked to pick his favorite moment of October, he revealed: “I would probably say Chelsea when Curtis scored because I gave him a good cross and we practice that a lot in training.

“So when you do it in a game you feel good – especially (as) it was the second goal. I was happy for him and happy to give an assist and help the team win the match.”

Salah is currently eighth on the Premier League’s all-time top scorers list, overtaking Robbie Fowler.

“To be honest, it means a lot” Salah spoke about this achievement.

“It’s something I work really, really hard for.

“And especially when you play as a winger, it’s more difficult. If you look at the other names, they’re all strikers.

“As a winger, it’s quite difficult to do both defensive and offensive work.

“So I’m very proud of the numbers I’m getting and I hope I continue to progress a little higher.”
