It’s that time of year again when the air is filled with hope from college football fans, wondering if their favorite team can earn a championship spot. College Football Playoffs. This year there are even more than usual. With the expanded format, a myriad of new schools and fans are eager to determine where they stand in the eyes of the selection committee.

Well, that’s exactly what we learned. Oregon, Georgia, MiamiAnd BYU secured the top four seeds and projected first-round byes. While bubble teams like Alabama, TennesseeAnd Indiana all earned projected playoff bids.

Of course, this is all hypothetical. There’s still plenty of time for teams to make a name for themselves or completely collapse. Who knows? By the end of the season, perhaps some of the lower-ranked teams will be undefeated Army or largely underestimated Ole Mademoiselle could break into the top 12.

Each of the four quarterfinal games and the two semifinal games will be played in the ongoing New Year’s Six Bowls. These bowls include the Rose, Sugar, Orange, Fiesta, Cotton and Peach bowls. As was the case with the four-team playoffs, these bowls will alternate between semifinal and quarterfinal games each year.

In 2024, the quarterfinal bowl games will be the Fiesta Bowl, Peach Bowl, Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl. The semifinal bowl games will be the Cotton and Orange bowls.

Each of the top four seeds will be awarded to the top-ranked conference champions. They will also all get first round byes.
