Unsure of what to do with their last name after getting married, one couple agreed to an unusual solution: allow their guests to decide.

Last month, Danielle Bonadona exposed the dilemma she and her fiancé Jacob Bartlebaugh are currently facing in a series of TikToks – which have since racked up millions of views – and revealed the couple had decided to let their name’s fate of family in the hands of their wedding guests.

In an October 10 TikTokBonadona, the art teacher, said it all started when Bartlebaugh expressed a desire to hyphenate their last names, but the resulting last name is a bit of a mouthful — and one that sparked a strong reaction from the of the Internet.

“People are going apes at the idea that we could call ourselves the Bonadona-Bartlebaughs,” she said in the video.

Furthermore, she added in another video“I don’t even know if people will be able to tell.”

After talking about it, Bonadona said the couple decided that the relatives present at their February nuptials could be the final decision-makers, holding a vote that would determine “whether we should cut our name or not.”

“Because the thing is, we both really love our last names,” she explained. “None of us want to give up our last name, so yeah, we’re just going to ask our guests to vote on it.”

Sharing her personal reasons for wanting to keep her last name, Bonadona said, “It’s less that I don’t want to lose my last name than I don’t want to lose the ‘Bonadona’ part.

“I’ve been called ‘Bonadona’ my whole life, so that’s the name I go by, and so everyone calls me ‘Bona’ or ‘Bonadona,'” she continued. “And so I almost feel like I’m changing my first name in a really strange way, like I can’t imagine not officially having ‘Bonadona’ in my name, but I would be happy to include or add his name, which is Bartlebaugh.”

So the only two options are to keep their original last name or hyphen it, resulting in a “fun, silly” name that “we kind of like,” Bonadona admitted.

Bonadona’s fiancé “is definitely in favor of the hyphenation since it was his idea in the first place,” she said. News week. “Personally, I also hope people pick Bonadona-Bartlebaugh at this point, because I think the internet will be mad if our family and friends dump them.”
