Xbox hardware revenue declined 29% in Microsoft’s (MSFT) first quarter of fiscal 2025

While content and services have increased, hardware has not performed as well for Microsoft.

The Microsoft company released its first quarter 2025 results this week, along with news regarding the company’s hardware section. Xbox hardware wasn’t a winner for the company this quarter, however. That’s about a 29 percent year-over-year decline, a small blemish in the company’s otherwise strong quarter.

Microsoft has released its First quarter 2025 results on its investor relations website this week. In it, the company shared its Xbox hardware metrics, including that its sales were down 29% compared to the first quarter of 2024.

Even though the Xbox Series elsewhere, like Xbox services, which boasted a 61 percent year-over-year increase. This and improvements to Microsoft’s cloud service have helped the company move forward earnings per share and revenue for the 1st quarter of 2025.

Microsoft has remained committed to ensuring it has a competing console in the market and has even announced new versions of the Xbox Series. It will be interesting to see if the company continues to stay heavily invested in the console market with all of its other irons in the fire. Stay tuned for updates here on Shacknews.
