High Surf Advisory Issued for South Central Oregon Coast and Curry County Coast for Thursday and Friday

A high surf advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 3:55 p.m., effective from 11:00 a.m. Thursday through 5:00 a.m. Friday for the south-central Oregon coast and the Curry County coast.

The weather service says to expect “large breaking waves between 23 and 26 feet.”

“Large breaking waves will create hazardous conditions along and within the surf zone and could flood low-lying beaches and shorelines. Beach erosion is possible and exposed infrastructure could be damaged,” describes the meteorological service. “Stay away from the surf zone and piers. Area beaches may become unsafe due to hazardous surf conditions.”

Advance Local Weather Alerts is a service provided by United Robots, which uses machine learning to compile the latest data from the National Weather Service.
