Texarkana police brag about capturing car burglar, call him ‘amateur hide-and-seek player’

TEXARKANA, TX (KWTX) – On November 7, the Texarkana Police Department in Texas playfully boasted on Facebook about the arrest of a suspect in a vehicle theft case.

Johnny Washington, 63, was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and eluding.

According to the station’s Facebook post, the incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Nov. 6 when an officer saw a car that matched the description of a reported stolen vehicle.

Washington allegedly tried to run away after noticing the officer, but according to the Texarkana Police Department in Texas, “real life doesn’t come with a stunt coordinator” as the suspect crashed his vehicle into a fence on West 6th St.

According to the station’s message, the suspect fled into the woods as soon as officers arrived on scene. An officer chased him with a K-9 and quickly found Washington “hiding in the woods like an amateur hide-and-seek player.”

Washington was taken to the Bi-State Jail, where officers learned he had an outstanding arrest warrant for a probation violation. Washington is currently being held on bonds totaling $20,000.

“So, Johnny,” wrote the Texarkana Police Department in Texas, “the next time you think you’re going to pull a fast one, remember: There’s no hiding from the officer Toliver…or Thor!”
