ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – The Athens County Humane Society is seeking information regarding the death of a dog found in a pond on Pine Grove Drive in Nelsonville.

On November 1, 2024, the Athens County Humane Officer responded to a report of a female gray and white terrier found by fishermen in the area.

According to the Nelsonville Police Department, foul play is suspected.

The Humane Society says the dog was shot, the body weighted down and dumped in the pond to conceal its location.

The authorities are requesting any information that could facilitate the investigation.
