CPS' Flawed Effort to Remove Lead from School Water Fountains

CPS’ Flawed Effort to Remove Lead from School Water FountainsA CPS official credits a high school building engineer with inventing a water fountain device that repels lead, but fails to say it’s on the patent.

CHICAGO– Access to clean drinking water in Chicago public schools is a priority for CPS senior Robert Christlieb.

His efforts to solve this problem include the installation of an invention called Noah.

This device automatically flushes fountains on a set schedule to reduce lead buildup in stagnant water.

Christlieb publicly credits a high school building engineer with Noah’s invention, but failed to mention that he is the co-inventor of the device.

CPS prohibits its employees from doing business with the school system.

The district declined to comment in detail on whether Christlieb violated any of its policies.
