Gas station worker who was robbed at gunpoint now faces charges for shooting suspects

SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT (WCAX/Gray News) – Police in Vermont say a gas station employee is facing charges after shooting two juveniles involved in a convenience store robbery.

South Burlington police said Domonic Ali-Koarti, 34, was behind the counter at a Shell gas station on Williston Road last week when two juveniles robbed the store at gunpoint.

Investigators said Ali-Koarti told officers he gave the suspects the money and followed them outside. He then saw two muzzle flashes and believed the robbers were shooting at him, so he pulled out his gun and fired several shots at them.

The juveniles told police they were trying to get away from the scene.

Authorities said Ali-Koarti now faces aggravated assault charges in connection with the incident.

The juvenile suspects were cited for assault and theft.
