SSANU and NASU insist on continuation of strike after one month of salary payment

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Allied Institutions (NASU) has said their strike will persist despite the release by the Federal Government only one month’s salary. on the four months owed to university workers.

On Saturday, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation announced the release of withheld salaries, but this partial payment did not change the resolve of the unions.

SSANU National President Mohammed Ibrahim highlighted that many university officials, including vice-chancellors, bursars and registrars, are also affected by these salary delays, exacerbating the disruption to university operations nationwide.

He confirmed that although some members have started receiving payments, only one month out of the four due has been released.

“Yes, they paid one month out of four. We will meet again to assess the situation. Not everyone has received it so far,” he added.
